This placemat depicts a beautiful goldfinch, and the border around the edge of the larger mat is chosen from the bird’s plumage. The bird is smaller than a sparrow and is charming and almost playful. They are not really a garden bird, but many gardens are visited by them especially if the right type of seed is on offer! They are such a welcome splash of colour on an otherwise grey day in the winter.
