This breed of dog originated in the border country of England and Scotland. They are highly energetic, and very intelligent animals, and if kept as pets need loads of exercise.

They are really a working dog, and are used all over the world for assisting farmers in the handling of livestock.

Having owned a border collie for many years, I chose to paint this picture, and later the next one (Tim the Collie) to try to illustrate their faithfulness to their owners.
