The Old Victorian Kitchen Garden On the Sandringham Estate
Catalogue Number: PL006
In earlier years when the royal family used to come to Sandringham by train, the estate was somewhat different in that there were many more servants and gardeners.
It's primary business in those days was one of farming.
Large parts of the estate are open to the general public, including a fair few acres of woodland.
Flowers are left each year by the general public at the Norwich Gate in remembrance of the anniverary of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales. She was brought up at a house on the estate and some retired employees have fond memories of her as a youngster.
This photograph is of the old victorian garden, which, in days gone by used to produce food for the house
