El Rocio Church Spain

This huge church is situated in the small hamlet of El Rocio, in the marshlads of the Guaddalquvir river delta in Spain, where the statue of “the Madonna of Dew” has been worshipped since 1280.

The village’s sandy streets are deserted for most of the year, looking like a scene in a spaghetti western. However, at Pentecost each year, nearly a million people from all over Spain arrive at El Rocio on horseback and gaily decorated wagons, transforming the area into a very noisy and colourful party for a few days.
