Lilac Breasted Roller Is Attractive
Catalogue Number: PW008
The Lilac Breasted Roller is an attractive bird and is one of the most commonly seen on the African continent. An inhabitant of dry open brush and wooded areas, it perches prominently on bushes, trees and fence poles. It preys primarily on lizards and invertebrates but is also known to take small birds. Lilac-breasted Rollers are not bothered by people, allowing the photographer to get very close in for a good photo opportunity.
I guess when we Europeans see such beautiful plumage it is bound to turn our heads!
During my trip to Kenya I took several shots of Rollers. This one was probably my favourite.
