Scottish Wild Cat A Rare Sight
Catalogue Number: PW010
Fearless, resourceful, patient, agile and powerful, yes that is the Scottish Wild Cat. Pound for pound it is one of the most impressive predators in the world, they have been known to prey on considerably larger species and until the 1950’s were believed to be man killers.
Sadly the Scottish wildcat is an endangered species with only a few hundred individuals remaining in Scotland, plus a few in captive breeding programmes. They are said to be the only species of animal which is 100 percent untameable.
This wildcat was photographed at the British Wildlife Centre, a sanctuary for endangered species and rare breeds in Kent.
Yes, I got the message quite clearly - do not mess with me. I think that the photograph shows just that.
